Step 1: Check the Seed Packet
• Verify the expiry date, batch number, and germination rate on the packet.
• Only open the packet at the time of sowing.
Step 2: Soil Preparation
• Plough the field thoroughly and make the soil soft and crumbly.
• Mix in well-decomposed organic manure or compost.
• Ensure proper drainage to avoid water stagnation.
Step 3: Seed Treatment (If Required)
• If recommended, treat seeds with fungicide like Thiram or Carbendazim.
• Follow any instructions printed on the packet.
Step 4: Sowing the Seeds
• Sow seeds in rows with 1 to 1.5 feet spacing between them.
• Place seeds about 1–2 cm deep in the soil and cover lightly with loose soil.
Step 5: Irrigation
• Water the field immediately after sowing.
• Then irrigate every 5–7 days depending on soil moisture and climate.

• For diseases like leaf spot or whitefly, apply fungicides or sprays as needed.
Step 8: Harvesting
• First picking can usually be done 45–50 days after sowing.
• Continue harvesting every 2–3 days for the best quality.
